Taxi in Bountiful

Simon Stander Wright Smith got his Wolf today! Which for all of you scouters probably doesn't make much sense, as it is awarded just prior to turning 9.  Simon turned 10 a few days ago.  His 9th birthday, however occured in Scotland, where the church doesn't actively participate at all in a scouting program.  So because he had done all the work of both the Wolf and the Bear, but his accomplishment dates are a little hazy, our troop has generously decided to give him the thumbs up on the Wolf/ Bear.  Lets all throw our heads back and give an "awwwoooooooo" for Si-guy.  Next month he will get his Bear. Yeah Simon!

Simon pinning his Wolf pin on me. I really love my scout pins.

That gets a thumbs up!

In stead of the pinewood derby cars, our ward does a box-car derby race. It is awesome.  The boys design a car out of a box. Then race three times around the gym, with chairs set up as the track. In between each lap, they have a pit stop where they get fuel (a cookie and a drink) they get their windshield wiped (goggles/glasses) and their tires get changed (shoes off then back on again.) The family gets to be the pit crew for their scout. It was so much fun.  A winner of an activity.

Simon was a cab. Really great. License plate: "CAB - 4U".
Sign on the side: Simon's Taxi 1(800) AWESOME.
He won second place.  All kids walked away with a hot wheels race car, and a smile.

Ryan sent me an edible arrangement today.  Totally delicious. Chocolate dipped apples, strawberries and bananas.  I was surprised at how much I loved the bananas. We are all ready to have Ryan Edward Smith home, but gourmet chocolate really helps in the meantime.
