Fruit Cake

Does anyone remember Pee-Wee's Christmas Special.  In it, Pee Wee keeps getting fruit cake, which he hates. Eventually he receives enough loaves to build another wing to his playhouse.  It's a real Christmas classic, and if you haven't seen it, you might be missing out.  This is the first thing that popped into my head when Preston came home from class today and had made a beautiful fruit cake in his modern studies class.  He even iced it and decorated the top with marzipan and fondant that the students also made in class.  Preston has really enjoyed this class, and as far as learning to cook at school goes, a good budget and an enthusiastic teacher can go a long way.  10 Points for Boroughmuir Secondary School.

This was what it looked like when he brought the fruit cake home.  What lovely packaging.

I was headed to a church meeting and asked Preston to take a picture of himself with his fruitcake before the family opened the package and gobbled it all up.  Naturally, he placed it on the ground, and then lied down next to it.  No smile.  Not really what I had in mind when I made the request.

It really is very beautiful, with the lovely little marzipan trees.  Well done, Preston.
