St. Nicholas at St. Paul's Cathedral

First, wake up late.  Second, brake the kitchen stove (or re-brake... chatted with the owner,  the stove is finicky and it wasn't our fault.).  Third, walk to the underground subway. Fourth, visit St. Paul's Cathedral, which is closed (but not posted on their website, grrrr.) Fifth, Have Saint Nicholas greet you on the cathedral steps. Sixth, Millennium Bridge.  Seventh, check out the Tate Modern (Picasso, Pollock, and Rothko, and a bunch of other no-namers ;~) Eighth, Lunch at a Korean Barbecue, fantastic. Ninth, Wicked! Tenth, Cue Owen leaving for an early admission to puke.  Made it to the loo and got most of his sick in the toilet.  Eleventh, Victoria Station to Wanstead Station. Twelfth, Walk Home.  A wet, drizzly, wonderful day!

Annie and Dad on the subway platform.

Kids excited to be on the train. Me, glad for the chance to ponder.

Simon finishing up his conversation with Saint Nicholas, Father Chritmas... how very Catholic he looks!

Us in front of St. Paul's Cathedral.  Mercy, it's crazy big, and Ryan has informed me that it was designed by Christopher Wren... ever the professor!

An image from Harry Potter 5 when the Millennium Bridge snaps in two and falls into the Thames River.  What Preston and I thought of while crossing it.

Preston on the Millennium Bridge, heading South to the Tate Modern.

My family doing a modern art pose in the Tate.

Us at the Korean Barbecue restaurant.  Ryan spoke Korean to the owners, which always kills me dead.  What a guy!

A shot taken right before the musical.  Little did I know that in about 55 minutes Owen and I would be rushing to the toilets to vomit.  I guess a good indicator is that even in this picture, he is laying limp and miserable over my shoulder.  I thought he was just tuckered out from all the walking.

The "after" shot.  It was magical, the kids had a blast, and Preston declared a professional musical to be far superior to movies.  Mission Accomplished.

  1. What an adventure! I can't believe you did all of that in only one day! It's fun to live vicariously through you. :-) Merry Christmas! I hope Owen feels better soon.

  4. Your kids are going to remember this year for a lifetime. You seem to be doing some new and adventurous thing every week (if not 12 in a day). What an amazing opportunity for you. Now...when do we get to have you back? :)
