DC 3

Washington DC day 3 highlight was the International Spy Museum.  James Bond is one of Ryan's favorites, minus the sex.  The museum displayed the history of espionage, 20th century technologies from the KGB, OSS and the CIA/FBI.  There were plenty of video bites from various movies, historical records of proof of spy activity and some great stories of spys who have been caught compromising intelligence from the US to others.  We all got secret identities and a souvenir at the end of the tour.  It was an entire morning experience to be remembered.  A very close second is the National Building Museum.  It was Ryan's favorite.  Some wonderful interactive exhibits on interactive design, play and green schools.  A modular classroom of the future was erected in front of the museum - Ryan's specialty.

Tonight's dinner was one of my highlights - mezze, similar to tapas or smaller side dishes.  It was a Greek cuisine feast topped with baklava and pistachio ice cream for real.

Cal in one of the cryptography exhibits.  He cracked the code.

Ominous look called the "Bonno" look outside the Spy Museum.

Showing the scale of the National Building Museum.  Huge 8-10 foot diameter columns.

Play time with medium density blue foam kept their attention for hours.

At a different scale, Dad and Cal building a structure with small block.

Owen built himself a fort.

Simon created a love seat for watching TV.

Modular classroom of the future.  Much better than the pods at Muir Elementary I must say - natural light, clean air environment, and green materials for construction!
