Flooding Cancels Plans

Monday was supposed to be PCC Day, Polynesian Culture Center day. But this morning the sky was dumping buckets. Usually the PCC stays open, even if it's raining, but apparently a road closed due to flooding so they closed up for the day.  Lucky for us, the rain subsided by early afternoon and we were able to make the most of the day.  We began with a visit to BYU Hawaii, a wee campus of about 3,000 students.  It was fun to see Preston interact with our guide, since college is looming closer and closer (Fall of 2017 if he goes right after high school.) Then we headed to Waymaya Beach, where the waves were crashing hard enough that the life guards kicked all the kids out of the water (thank heavens! My kids were having a blast but I was freaking out... dangerous but fun.) We attempted to see some turtles on a beach, but the turtles were feeling turtely and preferred to hide in their shells (and the water.) And then Ryan renewed my love for him by taking me out to a 5 star restaurant whilst the kids ate pizza.  Full day.  Can't wait to play tomorrow!

BYU... because we're staying about 1/4 mile away form the campus.

After our dangerous beach encounter. Calvin and Preston had a blast. Crazy strong current. Even after rinsing off, we all have about 4 cups of sand hiding in various locations of our swimsuits.

Our attempt to find turtles. Very pretty beach.

My meal started with Lobster Crab cakes... mercy!

Those are legit Tiki lamps in the background... legit because they're on fire and were in Hawaii!
