Ginger Snaps and The Tree

Tonight we put up our tree and did some Christmas decorating.  Gingersnaps and Christmas go together like peas and carrots, like chocolate and peanut butter, like Ryan and Lindsey, so Annie and I made some for our family night treat. I love Christmas decorations, Christmas music, and Christmas food.

Our tree is white. It is not fresh cut.  I love it.

Ryan read to us one of my very favorite Christmas stories, The Baker's Dozen, A Saint Nicholas Tale.

Available on Amazon for only $11.25

Enjoy!
Soft Gingersnaps

Soft Gingersnaps

¾ cup butter
¾ cup shortening
½ cup molasses
2 c sugar
2 eggs
4 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt

Cream butter, shortening, and molasses and sugar.  Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well.  Stir in the remaining ingredients.  Form dough into balls and roll in sugar.  Bake at 350Âș for 10 – 12 minutes.  Makes 3 – 4 dozen.

Make these in December and your family will feel the Christmas spirit.  This recipe comes from my in-laws.  They are big on holiday traditions, and this recipe is now one of ours.

  1. Love it! Beautiful tree, I thought it was just covered in snow at first glance.
