Barium

Ryan is continuing with his follow up cancer appointments this week and today was the Barium drink scan.  He got to drink about 32 ounces of this chalky white, groddy liquid and then get a scan. Apparently the barium coats the insides of stomach, intestines, etc making it easier to see them in the scan. Fun. We also learned today that Ryan's last reaction to contrast dye wasn't a fluke; he actually doesn't handle contrast dye very well.  Knowledge is power.

Everybody loves a cat wearing a red bow tie and black rimmed glasses all dressed up like a professor, making colonoscopy/barium jokes.

This was what one of the two containers looked like.  I love the scientific method of writing on the container and drawing the line to indicate how much he should drink. Purple marker. Boom.
