My Sweet dog, who is now over 70 in dog years, has served her community with love, grace and gentleness. Cricket is one beloved dog who gets to hold the title of being a retired Guide Dog for the Blind. Basically, she's a dog hero. In all her years of love and service, her owner was able to put her full trust in Ms Cricket. The bummer is that because guide dogs need to be at their peak performance, when they get old it becomes essential to retire them, to ensure that in their old age they don't accidentally make a mistake that puts their human companion in danger. We've had sweet Cricket for over a year (don't worry, it was an open adoption bc we are friends with her previous owner and Cricket still loves her!) In that year our sweet Cricket has slowed down quite a bit. We thought it was due to old age, but after a few vet visits, it's been determined that she is having vision problems. Oh the irony: a guide dog having trouble seeing! Poor, wonderful, fabulous Cricket! With two sets of owners (us and her previous family) she will get the best care possible. And FYI: this dog absolutely loves carrots, so I don't buy the myth that carrots will help your vision..:~)
Norman has recently discovered that Cricket exists, and he totally loves her!
